How to Prevent Bacterial Vaginosis

Click Here if you are looking for my review of Megan MacDonald’s BV Miracle.

When I was looking around for a bacterial vaginosis treatment I stumbled accross lots of suggestions all over the internet for things to do to prevent bacterial vaginosis.  I think these suggestions are good to know and worth a read, but I also think that it taks a lot more to actually get rid of bacterial vaginosis once you’ve had it.

The following suggestions are probably useful:

Always wipe from the front to the back.  Wiping back to front can smear bacterial from your bum towards your vagina and cause infections.

Don’t douche.  This comes up a lot but if you have read my BV Miracle review then you’ll know this suggestion isn’t entirely accurate.  I know now from BV Miracle that some douches are very effective home remedies for bacterial vaginosis.

Avoid tight clothing.  Make sure your vagina can “breathe” (haha) and that it’s not suffocated in your panties all day.

Don’t use scented toilet paper, spermicides, perfume, etc. down there.

Make sure anything that goes near your vagina is clean. This includes penises, fingers, sex toys, diaphrams and whatever else.

Don’t smoke.  Apparently smoking can make it harder to get rid of bacterial vaginosis and it can also cause a variety of other vaginal problems.  Smoking women are at a much higher risk of getting cervical cancer than non-smoking women.
